Founded in
Atlanta, Georgia, on July 26, 1922, for the
simple purpose of assisting all immigrants
of Greek descent to achieve American
citizenship through instruction in the
principles of American government, in the
use and increased fluency in the English
language, and in assisting the Greek
immigrant in participating in the civic life
of America.
This primary purpose has long been
accomplished; however, the AHEPA currently
strives toward obtaining the following
honorable objectives: To promote a better
and more comprehensive understanding of the
attributes and ideals of Hellenism and the
Hellenic culture; to promote education and
maintain new channels for disseminating the
fields of culture and learning; to promote
good fellowship and endow its members with a
spirit of altruism, common understanding,
mutual benevolence and helpfulness to their
fellow human beings; to endow its members
with the perfection of the moral sense.
AHEPA is an international
fraternal organization with chapters in the
United States, Canada, Australia, the
Bahamas, Greece, and Cyprus.
